RFID Journal LIVE! 2018 Report, Part 2

RFID Journal's 16th annual conference and exhibition was held last month. View the presentations from the event's main-conference sessions and the RFID Journal Awards.

This year's RFID Journal LIVE! conference and exhibition, held on Apr. 10-12, at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla., featured more than 100 hours of education, including more than 50 new end-user case studies. Recordings of the event's speaker presentations are now available in RFID Journal's online video library.

Links to videos of the keynotes, general sessions and preconference seminars were provided last week. Now, listed below and on the following pages are the presentations from the event's main-conference tracks and the RFID Journal Awards, along with PDFs of the slides used in those presentations (not all speakers have granted permission to have their presentations and/or slides archived).

RETAIL AND APPAREL

Retail and apparel companies have been among the early adopters of RFID technologies, both internally and within their shared supply chains. Many businesses are already seeing benefits, and some of these firms shared insights about the benefits they have achieved, as well as the implementation issues they needed to address before achieving them.

HEALTH CARE AND PHARMACEUTICALS

In the health-care field, hospitals and other medical facilities are employing RFID to improve patient safety, increase asset utilization with real-time tracking, boost revenue with automated billing and reduce medical errors using track-and-match applications. This track explained how RFID is impacting ROI in the health-care environment, while also improving efficiencies.

DEFENSE AND AEROSPACE

Boeing and Airbus are requiring that RFID tags be applied to airplane parts and shipments. This follows the U.S. Department of Defense's long-standing policy of using RFID to track shipments of most of the goods it purchases. This track helped companies in these sectors to comply with customer requirements, and to use RFID internally to achieve significant benefits.
